Systers Camps - What are they about and who attends?

Systers camps are a sort of retreats, tuned to the last detail, where women come to rest, pamper themselves, pause, learn about female biohacking and longevity, try out different gadgets and supplements, and, last but not least, enjoy great food. These are four days and three nights of complete relaxation and tranquillity. It is a place where we play a game of the present together.

Many years ago, my friends asked me to organise a camp for them. So I did. Then more friends joined in, then friends of friends, and that was it. It became a tradition. We truly started from the bottom up. At our first camp you would sleep on the floor, on a camping mat, and you would have to bring your own food. It also had its magic. However, over the years, I have discovered a few tricks that have helped me come this far. At the last of those camps, I realised that I had never been at a camp only for women. I had been to two mixed camps, a guest at one and a participant in a 40-member group, practising holotropic breathing, at the other. The fact that I had never experienced a women’s camp gave me plenty of room to do it so uniquely. Judging by the feedback from the women who come to our camps, it has really worked out.

A sacred space

With Systers, we organise our camps at a really beautiful place, on the Anglická sezóna farm, a sacred place with a story. The atmosphere of the house itself has healing properties. Just being there is enough for everything to start happening of its own accord. This is a place created for women. I had been looking for such a place for years, until it finally found me.

The space where retreats or camps are held is crucial, in my view. It is almost unbelievable how much our environment affects us. Even if we often do not want to admit it, more than 80% of our external perceptions are influenced by our surroundings. So being in a beautiful, modern, clean place that smells nice, where it is warm, but the air is fresh, where it is completely silent and the energy flows as it should, feels very different than being in a place that does not have these qualities. No matter what camp you attend, it is better to be in a pleasing space.

The farm has several rooms for 2-6 people and a large meditation room which, I believe, offers the best sleep. It is a lovely space in the English style where you can sleep with other women. Last time I joined the others there and I must say that this is where I enjoyed my sleep the most.

Superfood

You cannot simply bring your own cooks with you to Anglická sezóna as a lecturer because they have their own amazing cooks. We have been fortunate enough to manage it, however, and for that I am extremely grateful. Thus, Jan Vojtěchovský with his lady Barbora Opletalová always accompany us to these camps and feed us. Jan is the only man present. We have been working together for several years, and I know I can rely on these two completely, which is very important to me as I am quite particular when it comes to food. They use only high quality superfoods and add plenty of love to their dishes. Before serving you, they tell you what amino acids and micronutrients are to be found in the food so that your gut microbiome can look forward to the feast even more.

Throughout the retreat, we serve vegetarian and vegan food. We can always tailor the food further to suit your needs. We usually eat three main meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with different drinks and fruits in between, and sometimes we even get a piece of a healthy cheesecake with a helping of Cordyceps. Everyone has different eating habits, of course. Some people do not eat breakfast, some are on keto diet, and some eat all day long. It is only up to you how much you eat. But do not worry, you will not starve with us.

Guests & lecturers

Ivanka Kolcunová and I are the main lecturers of the whole camp. Ivanka contributes to our relaxation with her classes of Kaula yoga. It is a very slow and relaxing kind of yoga, suitable for both beginners and advanced yogis. Ivanka is not only a yoga instructor, she is also an artist, the author of a unique theatre show about female cyclicity, which is simply breathtaking. The name of the show is obnaŽENA (Exposed). It is about a woman of many faces, an acrobat who manages to express in dance something that the same woman herself often does not understand.

I myself lead women through our academy of female biohacking and longevity. It consists of a series of three lectures with questions and debates on various topics regarding female health, including the optimisation of the vaginal microbiome, blood tests, sleep, physical and mental resilience, and smart supplementation for female biology. I also guide women through cold therapy, ninja walking, and meditations - including a cacao ceremony and Loving Kindness meditation. If you are unfamiliar with my work, you can have a look at my book Burn Slowly (in Czech only) that I wrote several years ago. It speaks volumes.

Every camp is different. Although our program and guests may seem similar, different women attend, we broach different topics and try new things. The camps keep evolving, just like us. Among the people who visit us regularly are Tomáš Vaculčík and his colleague Markéta Havrlantová from Lighthacker, a Czech company I root for very much. They have come up with the most effective photobiomodulation panel in the world! It can stay on for 11 years without a break, so you can even pass it on to the next generation. They always bring several of these panels with them, usually around 10, so that every woman can try it out. The panels are available for the entire duration of the camp, and you can see for yourself how it feels to shine your own sun from a box at yourself as part of your morning ritual. You will see that the difference will be noticeable even after such a short time.

Our other guest is usually a scientist, the founder of Codex Beauty Labs, Ph.D. Barbara Paldus. Because she lives in America, she joins us online (she also speaks Czech), but her lecture on the skin microbiome is very helpful all the same. She also gives a bundle of her natural cosmetics Codex Beauty as a present to every woman at the camp. Ivanka Česnek works for this awesome innovative and sustainable company in the Czech Republic, she always comes to our camps, hands out the bundles and answers any questions you may have. Sometimes she stays over and throws a kickass dance party where we all let go, step beyond the limits of our minds, and enjoy the dancing. This is because Ivanka - or Im Cyber -  is also a DJ, and a really good one at that.

Our two experts, Kristie Zezulová and Terezka Celbová, who write articles for this blog will join us at the next camp too. Kristie is a young scientist and Terka is a young biohacker who lives in Wales. This means she will come to our camp all the way from Britain! I think she will rather like the Anglická sezóna farm. They will give a lecture on the vaginal microbiome.

My motivation for organising these camps is community. Thanks to the experiences we will share, a friendship can be born, or perhaps cooperation or something entirely different. Community cannot be bought, it has to be created by people working together. This is how I met all the guests and lecturers, as well as the people who are now part of Systers.

Our program

The program varies according to the needs of the group, but it has its fixed points. In the morning we do some invigorating warm-up exercises, breathing techniques, yoga, cold therapy, we breathe and drink bulletproof coffee with adaptogenic mushrooms and herbs. At breakfast we practise mindful eating - slow and conscious. During the day we meditate, go out in nature, have our lectures, experiment, spend time with ourselves, rest, and learn various techniques. In the evening there can be dancing, or a cacao ceremony with singing and dancing, we talk, pamper ourselves and so on and on. You have to experience our camp for yourself, it cannot be described in words.

The vast majority of the money you invest in the camp goes directly back to you. Whether in the amazing accommodation, food, lecturers, or the gifts that you get.

Our participants

Who comes to our camps? In regard to age groups, it varies. A vast majority of women who attend are between 25 and 35 years of age. Another important group is women over 50. If you are older, you do not need to worry about not fitting in, on the contrary! I am very grateful that women of different generations come to our camps because that is what the Systers project is all about, interconnecting all women, regardless of your age. There are women who have practised biohacking for some time, and there are complete beginners who have no idea what to expect. Some are in good shape, others are not. It is simply a mix of very different and amazing women. I can honestly tell you that there are always great people that you want to spend time with during the weekend. And that makes me feel very thankful.

You do not need to bring anything with you to the camp. If you have doubts, email us, or just take your friend, mum, or daughter with you. Just find the courage to relax, allow yourself to rest and take some time for yourself. Half of the women who come to our camp get it as a gift from their partner. If you are a man reading this article and are not sure if this is the right gift, email us too! We will try to answer every question you might have.

Well, and this is all. If you give yourself permission, all that is left is come to the camp and have an awesome time with us.

I want to thank all the women who allowed themselves to do it. I thank all the men who supported their women to do it. I thank my team who are an incredible support. I thank myself for organising this camp all those years ago, and thank you if you continue to create this story with us.
