Scientific breakthrough: the power of resistance training and protein in women

A large network meta-analysis (Nutrients, 2024, 78 studies, 5,272 participants – men and women) showed that resistance training combined with regular protein intake significantly improves muscle mass, strength, and walking speed in older adults. The best results came from whey plus strength training, but dairy and soy proteins also showed benefits.

A second meta-analysis (Epidemiology and Health, 2024, 8 studies, 854 participants including women with sarcopenia) confirmed that this combo significantly increases muscle mass and handgrip strength and ranks among the most effective non-pharmacological strategies against sarcopenia – the natural loss of muscle mass and function with age.

👉 For women this means something simple: even two short sessions a week with bodyweight or bands, paired with protein (e.g., Greek yogurt, legumes, or a protein shake), can slow muscle loss and support longevity.
