What is resveratrol?
Resveratrol is a polyphenol – a natural antioxidant belonging to the stilbene group. It naturally occurs in certain plants as a protective compound. Its best-known sources are the skins of red grapes and red wine, but you’ll also find it in peanuts, blueberries, mulberries, and Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum).
A scientific review of 25 clinical studies in which resveratrol was administered described its positive effects on reducing blood cholesterol levels and blood glucose levels, not only in people with diabetes.
